Dr Jackie Kwan Yee Yuen
  • Jackie Yuen holds her PhD in sociology from the University of Hong Kong. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Social Science in the University of Hong Kong, double majoring in Psychology and Sociology, and her master’s degree in Sociology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She worked as a Senior Research Officer in the Lingnan University and a Research Assistant in the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, CUHK on various projects about Hong Kong local identity and local culture. Her research interests include Hong Kong Studies, Economic Sociology and Sociology of culture. Her current research focuses on the development of Cantonese opera in Hong Kong and China, and the dynamics of the structure and agency within.

  • Her current research focuses on the development of Cantonese opera in Hong Kong and China. The research investigates the dynamics of the structure and agency within the fields through the comparison between the development paths of different genres of plays.
