PAN Fan is a full-time PhD student at HKU Sociology. Before joining HKU, he was a research assistant at the Institute of Empirical Legal Studies, Peking University. He received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Xiamen University Malaysia and master’s degree in social sciences (criminology) from HKU.

He mainly uses empirical data and quantitative methods to gain insights about the dynamic expansion of criminal networks and how offenders in different social structures are connected and ultimately determine the success and persistence of criminal networks. He is also interested in how deviant behaviour intersects with the social context in which it occurs.
